One of the most coveted measures of an NFL prospect’s fast-twitch ability is the 40-yard dash time, especially when it comes to the skill positions. It’s even more impressive when a quarterback can put a blazing time down on paper.

That’s where Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields comes in. It doesn’t take an expert analyst to know the former Heisman finalist can run a little. He was a passer first, but when he tucked the football and ran, he left guys in the dust and got upfield extremely quickly. There were rumblings about his quickness and speed, but we were never clued in to exactly what his 40-time was heading into the 2021 NFL draft.

Until now.

Tape surfaced recently of Fields running a timed 40-yard dash in one of his workouts, and it’ll most certainly turn heads. The time he ran is extremely fast for a quarterback, 4.41. That’s just a shade off the rarefied air of laying down a 4.3, but don’t be surprised if Fields breaks that barrier at some point leading up to the draft.

Thanks to the Twitter feed of NFL Stats, you can watch Fields blaze his way to this timed result and marvel and how a guy that size can move that fast.

We’ll have more coverage of all the Ohio State players eligible for the draft as we get closer and closer, and you can bet you’ll see some more highlights from Fields included.
