A pair of last-second buckets capped off a wild day of action in the NCAA Tournament.

Florida Atlantic won its first tournament game in program history after freshman guard Nicholas Boyd hit a layup with 2.5 seconds left and the Owls defeated 8-seed Memphis, 66-65.

Minutes later and nearly 1,300 miles away, TCU pulled off a comeback victory when sophomore forward JaKobe Coles drove into the paint for a layup with 1.5 seconds remaining for the winning score in a 72-70 victory over Arizona State.

For Florida Atlantic, the win sets up an improbable date with FDU, with one team advancing to the Sweet 16. If you had that in your bracket, let us know. We have questions about the lottery.

The Horned Frogs entered the tournament as a 6-seed and were pushed to their limit against the Sun Devils. Arizona State held a double-digit second-half lead but couldn’t hang on thanks to some inopportune miscues.

Next up for TCU is 3-seed Gonzaga, which had an easier time dispatching 14-seed Grand Canyon State, 82-70. Both second-round games — Florida Atlantic-FDU and TCU-Gonzaga — are scheduled for Sunday evening.
