Leeds host Bolton at Elland Road this afternoon in a match that Leeds need to need to keep pace with the three other teams that have separated themselves from the pack and are gunning for automatic promotion: Sheffield United, Norwich City, and West Bromwich Albion. With Sheffield United and West Brom playing each other on Saturday, Leeds can take advantage and at least get second place in the table.

Leeds have already beaten Bolton twice this season, once in the Championship in an ugly game at the University of Bolton Stadium back in December, and once in the Carabao Cup back in August. While it’s normally pretty difficult to get three results against a single team in one season, Bolton have looked dire and are bogged down in off-the-pitch problems, with owner Ken Anderson looking to sell after a number of financial shenanigans earlier in the season had resulted in fan protests and there is even a court date in March for a winding-up petition from HMRC.

Bolton beat Birmingham City earlier this month for their first away win since August, and while anything can happen in football, lightning may not strike twice this month. Leeds need this win, and despite some injuries, Leeds should still comfortable handle Bolton, despite Kemar Roofe dropping from the lineup due to injury and being replaced by Tyler Roberts. Patrick Bamford scored against Bolton back in December, let’s hope he bags at least another one today.
