Sweden vs Ukraine – LIVE!

A frantic and enthralling round of 16 at Euro 2020 concludes this evening in Glasgow as Sweden and Ukraine face off for a place in the quarter-finals.

The winner will face the victor of England vs Germany and Sweden will face their chances after topping Group E unbeaten, holding Spain to a goalless draw before toppling Slovakia and Poland.

Ukraine, meanwhile, reached the knockout stages as the final third-place side, despite losing to both Netherlands and Austria.

Plenty of eyes at Hampden Park will be on Alexander Isak, who has impressed for Janne Andersson’s side throughout the tournament and looks the best bet to settle a competitive affair in Glasgow.

However, in Andriy Yarmolenko and Roman Yaremchuk, Ukraine have enough about them to reach the last eight.

22:35 , Jack Rosser

There it is, what an ending! England will face Ukraine, who are into the last eight for the very first time.

GOAL! Sweden 1-2 Ukraine

22:31 , Jack Rosser

31 mins: There it is! Artem Dovbyk sends Ukraine through in stoppage time in extra time. A lovely header.

22:30 , Jack Rosser

30 mins: Three minutes added on. Let’s see how long they can make that feel, shall we?

22:27 , Jack Rosser

28 mins: Forsberg still trying to make things happen with a nice turn but the ball through had far too much on it.

22:24 , Jack Rosser

25 mins: There’s a bit of energy from Ukraine with their one man advantage but this has become a slog. So many going down, so many breaks in play. Do the kind thing and call it early.

22:15 , Jack Rosser

We’re off again. This feels destined for penalties.

EXTRA TIME HALF TIME | Sweden 1-1 Ukraine

22:12 , Jack Rosser

Sweden are down to ten men, other players dropping like flies. Not much happening otherwise. Straight to pens anyone?

Simon Collings at Hampden Park...

22:01 , Jack Rosser

Sweden are furious about that red card but I am not sure they can have many complaints. Danielson was high and he was out of control. The referee had no option.

22:00 , Jack Rosser

9 mins: Danielson is off! Shown a red card on review for a really rather nasty challenge.

22:00 , Jack Rosser

8 mins: Danielson is having a rather rough challenge on Besedin checked for a red card. Referee over to the monitor.

21:58 , Jack Rosser

7 mins: A triple change from Sweden to try and inject some life into extra time.

21:52 , Jack Rosser

We’re off for another half an hour at Hampden. Ukraine make a change as Yaremchuk is replaced by Besedin.

FULL TIME | Sweden 1-1 Ukraine

21:47 , Jack Rosser

Extra time it is then. They all look shattered. England will like that.

Simon Collings at Hampden Park...

21:43 , Jack Rosser

Loud chants of “Sheva” ring round Hampden Park as we enter the final five minutes. The former Chelsea striker waves to the fans to acknowledge them, before going back to prowling his technical area.

21:40 , Jack Rosser

85 mins: Forsberg goes into the book thanks to some play acting from Stepanenko

21:34 , Jack Rosser

79 mins: It’s all become a bit cagey since Forsberg struck the bar. Are we in for extra time?

21:24 , Jack Rosser

69 mins: Off the bar! Forsberg is having quite the game. Skips past two Ukraine shirts and the cracks an effort onto the bar.

Simon Collings at Hampden Park...

21:22 , Jack Rosser

Sweden starting to take control now with 25 minutes to go. They’ve been the better side for most of this, but Ukraine have fought well and look dangerous on the counter.

21:16 , Jack Rosser

61 mins: Change for Ukraine as Shaparenko is replaced by Malinovskyi

Simon Collings at Hampden Park

21:14 , Jack Rosser

This game is opening up nicely now, with both sides going for it. Anyone for another 3-3?

21:11 , Jack Rosser

56 mins: And at the other end! Forsberg breaks free and opens his body just inside the box but hits the foot of the post himself.

21:11 , Jack Rosser

55 mins: Off the post! Yarmolenko drives inside and cuts back for Sydorchuk but his effort cracks off the post.

21:09 , Jack Rosser

54 mins: Seb Larsson (always nice to see him) drills one low from range but it just whistles past the foot of the post.

21:03 , Jack Rosser

49 mins: A fast start from Sweden in this second half with Forsberg a real live wire. Ukraine pinned back early on.

21:00 , Jack Rosser

Sweden get us going once more.

Simon Collings at Hampden Park...

20:52 , Jack Rosser

That was a decent half of football. Sweden look a nice side - compact, efficient, but with a bit of flair from Forsberg. They should be ahead but will take it being 1-1.

HALF TIME | Sweden 1-1 Ukraine

20:45 , Jack Rosser

Two thumping goals mean it’s all level at the break. England no closer to knowing who they’ll face in the last eight.

Simon Collings at Hampden Park...

20:44 , Jack Rosser

This is turning into a battle of the wingers. Forsberg hits back to Yarmolenko’s brilliance by scoring for a Sweden. That took a big deflection, but the Swedes deserve a slice of luck. They’ve been the better side.

GOAL! Sweden 1-1 Ukraine

20:43 , Jack Rosser

43 mins: Well! That is some way to level it up. Forsberg hits one from range and it takes a deflection off Zabarnyi and in!

20:41 , Jack Rosser

41 mins: Sweden appealing for a penalty but no lick from the official. They’ve played some neat football but not created to many clear openings as they look for a way in.

WATCH: Ukraine take the lead

20:33 , Jack Rosser

That ball from Yarmalenko...

20:32 , Jack Rosser

32 mins: The ball falls to Yarmalenko at the far post from a set piece and he manages to prod an effort goal ward but just over the bar

Simon Collings at Hampden Park...

20:29 , Jack Rosser

And there you have it, Ukraine get there goal down the right hand side. A stunning assist from Yarmolenko. Not a bad finish either. Very much against the run of play, though.

GOAL! Sweden 0-1 Ukraine

20:28 , Jack Rosser

27 mins: Ukraine take the lead! Zinchenko hangs out on the left hand side and meets a ball from Yarmolenko with a thunderous hit. Olsen gets a hand to it but can’t stop it.

20:25 , Jack Rosser

25 mins: Both sides have had their spells in this one but neither really taking hold of it just yet.

Simon Collings at Hampden Park

20:20 , Jack Rosser

If Ukraine are to get back into this it’ll come from their right hand side. Yarmolenko is a different beast when in a Ukraine shirt as opposed to a West Ham one.

20:19 , Jack Rosser

19 mins: Sweden looking to bite back as Isak finds an inch inside the box but sends his effort just outside of the far post.

20:18 , Jack Rosser

17 mins: Ukraine in control at the moment and pinning Sweden back for the most part. Their looking to get Yarmolenko on the ball in that pace he loves just outside of the box on the right hand side.

20:11 , Jack Rosser

11 mins: Ukraine coming alive now. Yaremchuk plays the ball in for Yarmolenko and he draws a save from Olsen.

20:10 , Jack Rosser

9 mins: Shaparenko charges from deep for Ukraine and decides to have a go from range but skews it miles wide.

Simon Collings at Hampden Park...

20:07 , Jack Rosser

A nice bright start by Sweden. Forsberg, in particular, is very lively and is causing problems by cutting in from the left flank. Ukraine not got going so far.

20:05 , Jack Rosser

6 mins: Not much to report early on from Hampden. Sweden seeing more of the ball so far but both sides getting a feel for the game.

20:00 , Jack Rosser

We’re up and running in sunny Scotland.

19:54 , Jack Rosser

Match prediction

18:51 , Alex Young

Sweden don’t often seem to make a major splash at tournaments, but they impressed with their tactical flexibility to top Group E ahead of Spain.

With Forsberg fit and firing alongside the likes of Alexander Isak and Robin Quaison, Janne Andersson’s side should have what it takes to seal a narrow triumph in a competitive affair in Glasgow.

Ukraine are notably unpredictable, as demonstrated by their own group campaign. In West Ham’s Andriy Yarmolenko and Roman Yaremchuk they have enough firepower to reach the quarters, but would need to play far better than they did against Austria last time out.

Sweden 1-0 Ukraine.

Ukraine team news

18:26 , Alex Young

For Ukraine, Dynamo Kiev midfielder Viktor Tsygankov could come into the lineup in place of club team-mate Mykola Shaparenko.

Sweden team news

18:05 , Alex Young

Sweden have been handed a huge boost ahead of this last-16 contest after Emil Forsberg declared himself fit to play after missing training on Saturday.

The RB Leipzig winger has been his country’s most effective player at the Euros so far, netting the winner against Slovakia from the penalty spot and also notching twice in the thrilling 3-2 win over Poland.

Juventus midfielder Dejan Kulusevski will be pushing to start after a two-assist cameo off the bench in that final group fixture.

Ferrell backing Sweden

17:46 , Alex Young

American actor Will Ferrell is rooting for Sweden to beat Ukraine in the round of 16 at the European Championship.

Ferrell is married to a Swede and sent "his best wishes" to the Euro 2020 team in a short video posted on Twitter by the Swedish soccer federation.

Ferrell is shown wearing national team clothing and bellows "you are so smart, you are so strong, you are so fast, you play fabulously good" before chanting "we are all Sweden fans."
