2022 Wimbledon odds, picks, predictions: Proven tennis expert says Carlos Alcaraz primed for upset

Novak Djokovic has a strong chance to close the gap on the record for men's Grand Slam titles when the 2022 Wimbledon men's singles competition gets under way Monday. But the man who holds that record with 22, Rafael Nadal, also is among the favorites at the All England Club in London. Djokovic has 20 Grand Slam singles victories and is aiming for his fourth straight Wimbledon title, and seventh overall. Nadal has won it twice, but not since 2010, and 14 of his championships have come on the clay at the French Open. Mario Berrettini, who lost to Djokovic in the final last year in London, also is among the favorites, and two-time WImbledon champ Andy Murray could be a dark horse if he is fully healthy. Carlos Alcaraz, the 19-year-old Spaniard who has won three times this season, also could be in the mix.

Djokovic is the clear -145 favorite (risk $145 to win $100) in the latest 2022 Wimbledon odds for the men's single draw from Caesars Sportsbook. Berrettini is second in the odds at +550, with Nadal priced at +650. Alcaraz is +800, Hubert Hurkacz and Felix Auger-Aliassime are both at +1400 and Murray is a longer shot at 25-1. He lost to Nadal in the semifinals at Indian Wells and to Alexander Zverev in four sets in the French Open quarterfinals. But grass is a relatively new experience for him, so he could struggle.

Alcaraz has played just two senior matches on the surface, and he was drummed out of Wimbledon quickly by Daniil Medvedev in the first round last year. He also was unable to play in any of the warm-up events because of an elbow injury, so Calvert just doesn't see the young star having the experience to get through a quarter featuring Djokovic. The expert says he wouldn't be shocked if Alcaraz falls in the first-round match against Jan-Lennard Struff.
