LIVE UPDATES: Hurricane Ian impacting Florida's southwest coast

Hurricane Ian has continued to strengthen and is bringing significant threats to areas of Tampa Bay and Florida's Gulf Coast that don't normally see such headlines, but they're worth acting upon: Life-threatening storm surge and catastrophic winds and flooding are expected, the National Hurricane Center said. People living along and near the coast are urged to evacuate to safety. As of the 7 a.m. advisory, Hurricane Ian is continuing to gain strength as an "extremely dangerous" Category 4 storm. It is located about 65 miles southwest of Naples, Florida, with sustained winds of 155 mph — just two miles per hour away from being a Category 5 hurricane. Ian's movement is north-northeast at 10 mph.
