Iowa City's City Park Pool to open June 5th

Repairs are currently underway for the 72-year-old City Park Pool in time for the 2021 season.

During preparations, an unexpected crack was located in the surge tank in the pool at Park Road in Upper City Park on the northwest side of Iowa City.

 Repairs are underway, but will delay the pool from making its traditional Memorial Day debut. 

Once repairs are completed, the pool is expected to open on Saturday, June 5, 2021.We are looking forward to welcoming back customers for the season.

City Park Pool will host several special events throughout the summer including Pride at the Pool from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2021. 

Activities will include a reading of "Julian is a Mermaid" from one of Iowa City's local Drag Queens. For more information about this event or others visit icgov.org/Recreation.

Private pool rentals for birthday parties, reunions, and other social gatherings will remain unavailable at this time.

Iowa City splash pads are open daily, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., beginning Memorial Day weekend on Saturday, May 29 through Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 6.
