A surfer’s dream may be riding the perfect wave, but a savvy surfer knows the wave may only come at the right time, and at the right price.

Starting Monday, Alaska Airlines is offering discounted flights to the Hawaiian islands just in time for the beginning of surf season. But their perfect timing isn’t just based on a calendar — as surf season starts in November — it's also based on specific data forecasting the height of the Hawaiian waves, ensuring that their surfers can get prime ocean time.

And catch this: the bigger the waves, the bigger the discount.

But to ride this deal, surfers need to act quickly as the promotion is running only this week from Nov. 4 to Nov. 8 for flights through Nov. 20.

Those who may not be able to make it on such short notice should keep an eye out, because Alaska Airlines may be using their forecasting data for peak ski season when it’s time to hit the slopes.
