After flying the route this past winter, American Airlines is planning to resume its Saturday nonstop seasonal service between Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport and Miami International Airport  on June 5.

The flights will be offered every Saturday from June 5 to Aug. 14, 2021, and Nov. 13 to March 22, 2022.

“Miami is a popular year-round vacation destination and is a great jumping off point for visiting the Florida Keys, so I’m pleased that American Airlines is resuming this service,” said Brian Dranzik, airport director at Mitchell, in a statement.

“This is a perfect case of ‘use it or lose it,'" Dranzik said in the statement. "Thanks to more Wisconsin travelers choosing MKE and booking the flight over the winter, American is responding to demand from Milwaukee by bringing this service back to MKE.”

Airlines continue to add leisure destinations as that segment of travel is emerging more quickly than business travel from pandemic-related shutdowns and travel restrictions.

Miami International Airport is American’s largest international gateway. The route gives Wisconsin travelers access to dozens of international markets throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.

The flights will be operated with WiFi-equipped Embraer E-175 jet aircraft. Tickets are available for purchase now on AA.com and the American Airlines app.

Departure time from Milwaukee is scheduled to be 7 a.m., with arrival at 11:14 a.m. in Miami. The departure time from Miami is 7:45 p.m., arriving in Milwaukee at 10:16 p.m.
