Every Wednesday morning, SFGATE finds the biggest headlines in local (and sometimes national) beer. Check back here weekly for news, events, and information about special releases from your favorite local breweries.

SFGATE has a biweekly beer newsletter! Called the Taploid, it contains key stories from this column, as well as other, more nationally-spanning industry news. To sign up, head here, enter your email at the top, and check the box marked "Taploid."

The San Francisco Brewers Guild is readying for the fall by announcing dates for San Francisco Beer Week 2019: Friday, February 1 through Sunday, February 10, 2019. As in years past, the roughly 10-day celebration sees hundreds of brewery and beer bar events planned all around the Bay.

Last Wednesday, Cellarmaker Brewing announced something big: a second location for the beloved SoMa brewery. The company will take over the Bernal Heights space home to Old Bus Tavern, a neighborhood brewpub, and open sometime in November. See the full report here.

...And on the flipside of that news is the update that Old Bus Tavern's last day open will be September 8, per an Instagram post. "Only five chances left to get the best cheeseburger in town," it reads. "Our last service is this Saturday, and we want to see you before we close the doors!"

Lagunitas' big Beer Circus hits the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds in Petaluma on Saturday. The event features music, beer and "freaktacular entertainment" provided by aerialists, marching bands, face painters, and burlesque dancers. Tickets for the fest are on sale now at Eventbrite.

On Saturday, September 8, head to the USS Hornet for the Battlestar Classic Craft Beer Fest (and cornhole tournament), an event benefitting the USS Hornet Museum. The event includes almost two dozen breweries mostly from the East Bay, including Old Kan, Altamont, Faction, Epidemic, Almanac and more. See the full lineup and tickets here and take note — active military get 15 percent off tickets.
