Chicken Shack will open in two weeks near Humble, making it the first location in Houston and even the state.

Owner and Humble resident Lexi Ornelas said she wanted to offer something to people in the Lake Houston area that’s a bit different from what the current crop of restaurants have.

Located near the intersection of Beltway 8 and Wilson Road in front of Showbiz Cinemas, the restaurant offers items such as wings, burgers and chicken fingers.

There will be a grand opening celebration where there will be a DJ and giveaways.

“We’re really excited to serve the Lake Houston community and exicted to meet a lot of new people,” Ornelas said. “Our biggest thing is giving back to the community and just being able to serve different people.”

Kingwood Family Vision Center

The local Kingwood vision center recently celebrated its re-grand opening with the Lake Houston Area Chamber of Commerce after it had to close down for business due to Hurricane Harvey.

The vision center is located on Main Street in Kingwood and is completely refurbished with brand new equipment.

Services that are offered include comprehensive eye exams, laser vision correction, vision therapy, among others.

“We’re definitely excited to be open again and serving the Kingwood community,” Office Manager Stephanie Waters said. “The doctors have been here over 30 years and would love for patients and the community to come in and see newly refurbished office and our extensive frame line.”
