The final night of the Historic Springfield Holiday Tour of Homes was a success, bringing in around a thousand visitors, according to the Springfield Improvement Association.

This is the 32nd year the Springfield community has held its holiday house tour.

Many homeowners were participating for the first time in 2018.

Jenna and Hunter Reed were happy to put their hard work on display for this year’s tour.

“We have put a lot of hard work into this house, a lot of love into this house,” Reed said.

The Reeds moved to Springfield in September 2017 and made some minor repairs to their home since moving to the area.

They live on the first floor of their duplex and rent out the second floor through Airbnb.

The Reeds are filled with cheer as people admire the Christmas spirit that decorates the duplex.

The Reeds and the Springfield Improvement Association want to improve the homes in the neighborhood.

"People come here and make a decision to move into the community, take on one of these old houses and it's an act of love, to take on one of these houses and make something out of it,” Michael

Trautmann, vice president of the Springfield Improvement Association said.

It’s a community that people like the Reeds care for.

"We love seeing all the people come to our neighborhood Springfield is revitalizing, and we just love getting people from all over Jacksonville coming in to see the historic neighborhood," Jenna Reed said.

Trautmann encourages people to give back to volunteer with the Springfield Improvement Association and the Springfield Preservation and Restoration group.
