On Monday, Gov. Andy Beshear announced that all Kentucky restaurants were required to close their dining rooms in response to COVID-19.

While the action has left thousands of workers without a job, one Louisville-based program is doing its part to tackle this problem.

According to a Facebook post from The Lee Initiative, the program is offering help for those in need of food and supplies. Each night, starting Tuesday, volunteers will pack hundreds of to-go dinners that people can come to pick up and take home.

Thanks to help from Maker's Mark the program is transforming 610 Magnolia into a relief center restaurant workers who have been laid off or have had a reduction in hours.

This program will be offered seven nights a week until otherwise notified. You can pickup goods at 621 West Magnolia Ave, Louisville, Ky. The pickup time is 5 to 8:30 p.m. nightly. Those in need will be asked to bring a list of goods and volunteers will pack and deliver to their car. A paycheck stub or proof of restaurant employment must be shown in order to qualify.

Lee Initiative was founded in 2018 by James Beard, Louisville chef Edward Lee and managing director Lindsay Ofcacek.

Beshear also announced the state is waiving the waiting period for people to receive unemployment benefits in the state.
