The Mt. Shasta Ski Park will open its 2019-20 season Dec. 13.

The park has received more than 5 feet of snow over the past week, officials said Monday.

The ski park opened Dec. 12 last year.

Meanwhile, Mt. Shasta Ski Park has extended its winter lift ticket sale through Dec. 8.

Adult (13-64) lift tickets this year are $69 for the holiday season, Dec. 13-Jan. 20, and Feb. 14-17. Adult non-holiday tickets for Monday-Thursday are $49 and $65 for weekends. The park also offers rental packages.

The weather forecast for the greater Mount Shasta area calls for a chance of showers through Wednesday with snow levels rising to over 6,500 feet.

More rain and snow are forecast for the weekend, as snow levels will drop to around 5,100 feet by Saturday.

Former Shopko building fails to sell at auction

The former Shopko department store building on Lake Boulevard in Redding has gone back to the bank.

Nobody bid on the vacant building at a foreclosure auction Nov. 25.

In May, Shopko closed after nearly 30 years in the North Point Plaza shopping center on Lake Boulevard.

Redding was Shopko's only location in California.

Efforts to sell the building after it closed failed.

Debt owed on the building was approximately $4.5 million, according to the notice of trustee sale. The building sold in August 2016 for $13.6 million.

Per the trustee's sale auction notice, Wells Fargo Bank was the beneficiary on the note.

County property taxes due Dec. 10

The first installment of Shasta County property taxes is due at 5 p.m. on Dec. 10.

Any payments not received or postmarked by that date will be considered delinquent and at that time a 10% penalty will be attached.

Electronic payments will be assessed a fee to process the payment.
