Spirit Airlines adds Florida, Washington D.C. flights at San Antonio airport

Just after announcing its latest flight destinations to Las Vegas and Orlando, Spirit Airlines, known for its loud yellow Airbus, is setting up to launch more flights out of the San Antonio airport in less than a year from. Spirit will launch two new routes to Baltimore/Washington D.C. and Fort Lauderdale starting in March 2023, according to a news release.
The daily flights will be available on March 8, 2023. There is still no pricing information for the Baltimore/Washington D.C. flights, but flights to Fort Lauderdale on March 8 are $211 and $262, according to Spirit's website. Prices are subject to change.
On Thursday, November 17, Spirit celebrated the launch of its one way flights to Orlando and Las Vegas at the San Antonio International Airport just in time for Thanksgiving trips. In June, Spirit Airlines launched flights out of Austin and Houston to Monterrey, Mexico. The airline was later bought up by JetBlue in a $3.8 billion sale in October.
"There's so much to see and do here in San Antonio. We're happy to give our travelers more flights to popular places and add new routes as we expand," said Jesus H. Saenz, director of airports for San Antonio, in the news release.
The San Antonio airport, which is undergoing a $2 billion overhaul, is adding a third terminal that will bring an additional 17 gates to the airport and be able to handle passenger needs over the next 20 years.
