As the coronavirus vaccine makes its way around the broader population, dreams of a sunny getaway may soon again seem possible to leisure travelers.

Even so, it’s important for would-be jetsetters to pay attention to continually evolving guidelines, especially as the CDC has implemented a new testing requirement for anyone entering — or returning to — the U.S. This now means everyone flying into the U.S. must provide proof of a negative test taken no more than 72 hours prior to boarding.

While this latest safety measure offers a little reassurance in knowing those around you have also tested negative, there really are no guarantees when it comes to travel.

If you do plan to vacation during the pandemic, be sure to review the latest CDC guidelines and recommendations for travelers in consideration of your intended destination. While some sunny destinations are noted with higher risk levels, travelers may sort through the list of countries to determine what the CDC has categorized as lower risk, though self-care and socially distancing from others is key no matter where you go.

Before you jet off to a tropical destination, know what it’s like to fly during the pandemic and always pack plenty of personal safety essentials. As you consider a potential vacation property, review local protocols to ensure heightened cleaning is a priority along with streamlined services like mobile check-in at hotels and digital menus for restaurants. Be sure to comply with any pre-travel testing requirements of your intended destination to avoid confusion or delays upon arrival.

There truly are two truths about traveling right now. First, the safest precaution is to simply stay home. For those that choose to travel, though, there are destinations and resorts determined to offer a healthy experience while also meeting testing requirements. As an example, Hyatt offers a consistent standard as “all 19 Hyatt resorts in Latin America have arranged for complimentary on-property COVID-19 testing” through the end of May. Several Hilton and Marriott properties are also offering onsite testing. If you travel, do so responsibly and only visit venues that meet your own high standards.

Ready to turn your wanderlust dreams into tangible planning? Keep reading for a look at just a few of the amazing destinations offering stress-free coronavirus testing as the latest amenity for leisure travelers.
