Warner Robins Independence Day celebration happens this weekend

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. (WGXA) -- It's almost time to celebrate the birth of our nation, and that time comes a couple of days early for many in the Midstate.

The City of Warner Robins will be holding its annual Independence Day Celebration at McConnell-Talbert Stadium on Saturday, July 2.

The gates open at 5:00 with DJ Chico spinning a set before the event officially kicks off at 6.

Company of Crow, Con Funk Shun, and Atlanta Rhythm Section will be cranking out the live tunes to keep everyone moving and in good spirits, keeping things going for the fireworks display at 9:50.

The gates for public entry are located at Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard and S. Davis Drive.

Just a heads up, the following roads will be closed off for the event:

  • 3:00 PM – Demon Valley Dr. will be established as a NO PARKING ZONE.
  • 5:00 PM – MLK Blvd. from S. Davis Dr. to Pearl Stephens Way will be restricted to eastbound traffic flow. Please enter the venue area from S. Davis Dr. ONLY
  • 6:00 PM – S. Davis Dr. from MLK Blvd. to Demon Valley Dr. will be closed to all vehicular traffic & detours established. Pedestrian traffic on sidewalks will be allowed until the fireworks display begins.
  • 9:30 Demon Valley Dr. will be closed for the duration of the fireworks display.

Parking will be available in the following areas:

  • Union Grove Baptist Church Field
  • C.B. Watson School- Handicap
  • Warner Robins High School - Pickup/Dropoff/Uber/Lyft
  • Pearl Stephens School Area
  • Rumble Academy
  • Sacred Heart Catholic Church Complex
  • Robins Financial Credit Union
  • Middle Georgia State University
  • Commercial Circle Area
  • City of Warner Robins Municipal Complex

Event organizers would like to remind you of the following:

  • Prohibited Items include: drones, glass bottles, firearms, weapons, alcohol, rolling coolers, hard-sided coolers, pets, outside food and open drinks, large umbrellas, and tents.
  • Allowed items include: small soft-sided coolers with sealed drinks inside, lawn chairs, diaper bags, small coolers for medical purposes such as insulin or baby formula.
  •  All items will be searched and persons are subject to search.
