On Monday, Florida residents from Miami to Jacksonville reported seeing a meteor blazing across the sky. The National Weather Service said its Geostationary Lightning Mapper (GLM) captured a “bright meteor as it burned up off the coast.” The meteor traveled at 18,700 miles per hour when it passed Earth. According to NASA statistics, the space rock is between 3.5 meters and 7.7 meters wide.
