Who Is New York Governor Andrew Cuomo?
Andrew Cuomo is the 56th governor of New York, serving since 2011. As a Democratic governor, he helped to legalize same-sex marriage passed strict gun-control laws, increased the minimum wage, and legalized medical marijuana. Cuomo was put in the spotlight during the COVID-19 pandemic as a popular governor but attracted scrutiny after it was discovered that his administration undercounted COVID-19-related deaths at nursing homes by as much as 50%.
