A venerable Dallas country club has changed hands again.

Prestonwood Country Club in Far North Dallas dates to 1968 and has been one of the most popular golf courses in the area.

In 2014, the property was purchased from Dallas’ Henry S. Miller family by Dallas-based ClubCorp, which owns and operates golf courses, country clubs and private clubs.

ClubCorp did an extensive renovation of the property, which is on Arapaho Road near Preston Road.

And last year, Prestonwood Country Club was among a group of golf properties that ClubCorp sold to New York-based investor Sculptor Capital Management. As part of the deal, ClubCorp retained management of the country clubs.

Now the New York owner has sold Prestonwood Country Club to Dallas-based investor Spirit Realty, deed records show. Spirit Realty also bought Richardson’s Canyon Creek Country Club from Sculptor, according to county records.

Prestonwood Country Club is a favorite Far North Dallas venue not just for golf but also for business and social events.

New owner Spirit Realty is a real estate investment trust that owns retail, office and industrial properties. The company specializes in acquiring real estate with long-term leases in place.

At the start of the year, Spirit owned 1,860 properties valued at $6.8 billion.
