Downtown Toledo signal boxes decorated with floral-themed Arts Commission wraps

Downtown Toledo now has another scenic contribution from The Arts Commission's Art in Public Places program.

Vinyl wraps were installed around signal boxes Wednesday morning along Jefferson Avenue from Summit Street to Collingwood Avenue.

The next phase of installations will be along Main Street from International Park to Starr Avenue.

Thanks to the Young Artists at Work apprenticeship program, artists behind the initial lineup of pieces included:

  • Shannon Eis
  • Elsa Furia
  • Dorene Jones
  • Amber LeFever Soboleski
  • Bradley Scherzer
  • Becky Williams
  • Steven Wipfli
  • Sarah Worthington
  • Jennifer Ziolkowski

Phase two artists, led by Amanda Gargac and assisted by Maya Ruswinkle, will include:

  • Cania Allen
  • Andrea Jamison
  • Caramel Haviland
  • Delano Williams
  • Elisya Nieves
  • Sydney Handley
  • Zoe Murnen
  • Laylah Chizmar

The "Flora and Fauna" theme mixes natural environment elements into and urban landscape.

The artwork is expected to last four to five years.
