EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Lots of people were out on the Evansville Riverfront to celebrate Independence Day on Monday night.

Riverside Drive was blocked from Vine to Walnut for those in attendance to enjoy food trucks and the Ruler Foods Kids’ Zone.

Inflatable slides, face painting and other family activities were available before the fireworks started.

One woman drove from South Bend for the second year in a row for the event.

“Honestly because it gets people together,” attendee, Jasmine Sherwood says. “All in one space just where we can kinda share and it’s the experience, it’s the feeling. I could have sat at home and lit off fireworks but we come here to watch them because of the whole experience. It’s awesome.”

There was also free parking available in multiple car garages located downtown.
