Downtown Nashville has a new option for New American cuisine. Church and Union, a restaurant from two-time "Top Chef" contestant Jamie Lynch and Chef Adam Hodgson, opens Saturday, Sept. 18.

The restaurant takes up 5,900 square feet on Fourth Avenue North between The Arcade and Printer's Alley.

Aside from more typical appointments including a white concrete bar and glass chandeliers, the interior is filled with paintings and other art. The ceiling, for example, features all 11,450 words of Sun Tzu's "The Art of War" hand painted by Charlotte-area artist Jon Norris.

For food, Church and Union serves a menu created by Lynch and Hodgson featuring a seafood tower, agnolotti pasta, kurobuta pork chop and other items alongside craft cocktails and drinks. Hodgson will head the kitchen in Nashville, working with Lynch on new menu items and dining programs.

The restaurant is the first Tennessee location for 5th Street Group, a restaurant group with locations in Charleston, S.C., and Charlotte, N.C. Tempest Charleston was named "Best New Restaurant" by USA Today readers in December 2020.

Here's a first look at the menu offerings and the interior.
