Summer Picnic Treat - Watermelon Pie
WHAT A MELON!
Looking for a summer time treat for your next get together? Look no further! This “Watermelon Pie” is the perfect easy to make treat for your next summer bash!
What you will need:
rice cereal (about 7 – 8 cups)
1 1/2 bags of marshmallows (40 and 20)
food coloring (red and green)
1 1/2 sticks of butter
Step One
Spray the pie pan with a non-stick cooking spray.
Step Two
Melt a half stick of butter in a pan on the stove top on medium heat.
Add 20 marshmallows.
Stir until melted.
Add a few drops of green food coloring.
Step Three
Remove from the stove and mix in 2 1/2 cups of rice cereal.
Stir. Stir. Stir.
Step Four
Caution: It will be HOT! You will need to put the mixture into the pie pan and use your hands to mold it to the sides of the pan to make your “crust”. It will be hot so I usually dip my fingers in a cup of cold water.
(Any holiday ideas brewing? A holiday wreath?)
Set aside you pie “crust” and head back to the stove for part two.
Step Five
Melt 1 stick of butter in a pan on the stove.
Add 40 marshmallows (usually a whole bag).
Stir until melted.
Add red food coloring!
Step Six
Remove from the heat and stir in 5 1/2 cups of rice cereal.
Step Seven
Remember it’s hot! Place in the middle of your pie. Push down and fill the inside of the pie pan.
Step Eight
Let it cool and then add chocolate chips for the seeds. Place in the refrigerator for several hours.
Take your “pie” out and cut it into slices!
Here’s to a SLICE OF SUMMER!
