A Galaxy Next Door TV anime is based on Gido Amagakure's Otonari ni Ginga manga that was first launched in Kodansha's Good! Afternoon magazine back in April 2020. Kodansha USA is currently publishing the manga in English. As for the plot, it tells the emotional story of Ichirou Kuga, who has struggled to support his two siblings in middle school education ever since their father died.
Ichirou has a passion for drawing manga, but he has to keep wrestling with pen and paper until a new assistant pops into his life. A Galaxy Next Door also declares Kuga and his new assistant, Shiori Goshiki, to be engaged to be married.
Gido Amagakure's romantic comedy manga is also inspiring a live-action series produced by NHK, which will premiere on April 3. Hayato Sano will play the main character Ichirou Kuga, while Yoshihito Okashita will direct the series. The anime adaptation of the manga, A Galaxy Next Door, will air on April 8 on Crunchyroll.
