“I’m really grateful for everything and I’m really happy for how things worked out,” Eric Chien reveals after being eliminated from “America’s Got Talent.” The close-up magician recently spoke with NBC following his final appearance on “AGT” in last week’s Semifinals 1 results show. He was one of the six acts to be eliminated just before the Finals, along with wild card singer Ansley Burns, stand-up comedian Jackie Fabulous, veteran singer Robert Finley, comedic impressionist Greg Morton and acrobatic trio Messoudi Brothers. Watch Eric’s “AGT” interview above.

“My favorite memory from ‘AGT’ is my audition,” Eric confirms, referring to the moment he first appeared during the Season 14 premiere. For his audition Eric flawlessly changed the colors of cards from red to blue, then made them disappear and slice in half. “When I went out on stage I was super nervous. I didn’t know where to put my hands, I didn’t know how to walk. It was really nerve-wracking for me. My performance went really well. When I looked up it was a standing ovation.”

Eric says he’s gotten “so many supporters” from his time on “America’s Got Talent.” “It feels amazing,” he adds. “Thank you guys so much for supporting me and watching me progress through the stages.”

Eric had high hopes of becoming the third magician to win “AGT,” following in the footsteps of Mat Franco and Shin Lim. Unfortunately, judge Simon Cowell got “bored” during the live shows with Eric’s close-up magic and asked him to do something bigger when he returned. Eric decided to stick with what he knew and so he performed yet another close-up trick, but that proved to be too “confusing” for the judges.

“Look, Eric, I’d say your definition of what’s big and my definition of big is slightly different,” Simon told the magician during the Semifinals. “I really hate being negative tonight but I’m gonna be negative right now. I haven’t got a bloody clue what was going on there, sorry.” Ultimately America agreed with Simon and Eric was eliminated during the results show. Did voters make the wrong decision?
