Mindy Kaling experienced 'growing pains' adjusting to life in self-isolation amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

The actress, 41, who appears on the December cover of Vogue India, described struggling to scale back her ordinarily active social life as the world grappled with an extraordinary health crisis.

Mindy admitted she was not doing 'great' when asked about adjusting to solitude, but said she was fortunate to have the company of her 'fun and funny' two-year-old daughter Katherine Kaling.

'I'm very hard-working, but I'm also very social,' Mindy said. 'It was a lot of growing pains at the beginning of the pandemic. It made it easier that my daughter was here because she's so fun and funny.

'In the beginning, it was a lot of just us staring at each other, but I got to know her better.'

On top of cutting back time with her social circle, Mindy had to stop seeing her father in person.

Mindy's father would ordinarily see his granddaughter every day, but for three months he didn't step foot into his daughter's house once lockdowns struck.

His visits were reduced to daily drives in his car, where he would say hi to Katherine through his window.

'Every day he would drive by and wear a mask and gloves and talk to Katherine through the car window,' she explained.

Eventually, Mindy learned how to work her life around the restrictions, and her household now gets tested on a weekly basis.

She also welcomed her second child, a son named Spencer, a few months ago.

Mindy has not yet revealed the identity of the father of her two children.

'My feeling is that, until I speak to my daughter about that, I'm not going to talk to anyone else about it,' she previously told the New York Times
