Poker Face creator Rian Johnson shares why Jamie Lee Curtis would be the perfect guest star in a potential second season. Johnson once again tackles the murder mystery genre with his new series, but where Knives Out and Glass Onion are part of the whodunit style of mystery, Poker Face is "case of the week" focusing on how to catch the killer instead of discovering who they are. The series follows Charlie Cale (Natasha Lyonne), who comes across a new cast of characters and puzzle to solve in each episode using her uncanny ability to detect when people are lying to her.

In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Johnson reveals that Curtis would be a dream guest star in a potential second season of Poker Face. He explains that one of Curtis' first roles was as a guest star on Columbo, which inspired Poker Face's style of "how catch 'em" mysteries. Johnson also praises the impressive guest stars in the first season, stating his disbelief at the actors they were able to work with.

You have so many incredible guest stars on this show. Judith Light, Hong Chau, which is probably my favorite, Jamila Jameel, Tim Meadows. Is there any that stick out to you the most? And is there anybody that you'd like to get for season 2?

Rian Johnson: I mean, every single one of them stuck out. It was just every single week that was like, "I can't believe we have Nick Nolte and Cherry Jones. I can't believe we have Ellen Barkin. I can't believe we have Tim Blake Nelson." It's absolutely incredible.

For season 2, I never want to say names out loud because I never want to jinx some. There's so many different people. If I could talk Jamie Lee Curtis into showing up for one of these, I would in a heartbeat. [One of] her first [jobs] was in an episode of Columbo. Google it. She has a great scene with Peter Falk in the diner, where she plays a waitress.

How Could Jamie Lee Curtis Fit In The World Of Poker Face?

Poker Face features an impressive new cast of guest stars each episode as Charlie constantly travels to new locations where she inevitably gets sucked into a case. The series is set up to bring in actors who aren't usually available for television roles because of their busy schedules. Curtis would be a perfect addition to a potential second season of Poker Face, especially since she and Johnson have previously worked together on the incredibly successful Knives Out.

With Poker Face taking inspiration from Columbo's style of mystery and Curtis previously guest starring on the murder mystery classic appearing on Johnson's series could be a full circle moment for the acclaimed actress. If Johnson were to fully lean into this, he could cast her as a waitress or the owner of a diner, hearkening back to her Colombo role. It would also be interesting to see if Johnson addresses her role in Knives Out. Johnson recently revealed that Poker Face is actually a television series within the Knives Out universe, similar to Lightyear being a movie within the Toy Story universe.

He shared that Natasha's cameo in Glass Onion is the Natasha within the Knives Out universe in her Poker Face trailer. With the series being set within the Knives Out universe, Curtis could play an entirely new character or appear as her Knives Out character, adding an Easter egg for hardcore fans that hints at how Linda's life changed after discovering her husband's affair and losing her inheritance. Whichever way Johnson approaches it, Curtis would be the perfect guest star to bring into Poker Face as any number of characters.
