The Great American Baking Show is returning to screens and to kick off its return there's a special holiday edition.

The Office star Ellie Kemper and You actor Zach Cherry are taking over the reins as hosts for the new iteration, which is based on the popular British series The Great British Bake Off.

In the past, there have been five seasons of The Great American Baking Show, but there hasn't been a new one since 2019. Previous hosts have included Ian Gomez, Ayesha Curry and Anthony Adams.

For the new Roku original series, Kemper and Cherry will welcome contestants into the iconic tent to put their baking skills to the test to earn the title of America's best amateur baker.

Before the new series starring members of the public launches in early 2023 there will be a holiday special featuring celebrity contestants.

The Great American Baking Show Holiday Edition Judges

Judging The Great American Baking Show holiday edition will be Paul Hollywood, 56, and Prue Leith, 82.

Hollywood has been a judge on the U.K. version of the show since it began in 2010, and he appeared on the third, fourth and fifth seasons of the U.S. version too.

"The Great British Baking Show" tent is up for another season. Channel 4

Leith joined The Great British Bake Off (also known as The Great British Baking Show) in 2017, taking over from previous judge Mary Berry. This will be her first time appearing on the American version.

Outside of the show, Hollywood is well known for his baking and cooking, while Leith has worked as a chef, food writer and restaurateur.

Marshawn Lynch

The Great American Baking Show Holiday Edition Release Date

The holiday edition of The Great American Baking Show will air on Friday, December 2. The episode will be available to stream on The Roku Channel.

The full new series of The Great American Baking Show will then be released in 2023, though a specific date is still to be confirmed.
