The Masked Singer season 9 will continue to have theme nights after their great success in season 8, and a few of them have been revealed. The Masked Singer season 8 introduced theme nights for the first time. Some of them featured certain celebrities, including Andrew Lloyd Webber and the Muppets. Andrew and Miss Piggy served as guest panelists on their respective episodes. There were other themes, including Vegas, TV Theme Songs, '90s, Comedy Roast, Hall of Fame, and Fright Night.

On Camera Audiences, the website where fans can get free tickets to The Masked Singer tapings, has announced the first four season 9 themes. The January 23 The Masked Singer season 9 taping is simply called "Opening Night."

This is similar to the first episode from The Masked Singer season 8 which did not have a theme. The January 24 taping is ABBA Night. The Masked Singer season 9 will also tape on January 25 with the theme "New York Night." On January 28, the theme is "Superhero Night."

The Masked Singer Season 9 Features ABBA Night

ABBA joins Andrew Lloyd Webber and the Muppets with a Masked Singer theme night dedicated to the music of a specific artist. ABBA is a Swedish pop group that formed in the early 1970s and went on to become one of the most successful music acts of all time, so they are the perfect choice for a Masked Singer theme night. Their biggest hits include "Dancing Queen," "Mamma Mia," "Take a Chance on Me," "Fernando," and "Waterloo." The hit jukebox musical Mamma Mia! celebrates their legendary catalog, along with the film sequel Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.

The Masked Singer theme nights make each episode more cohesive because they give clues about the contestants. Many of The Masked Singer season 8 contestants matched their theme nights, including The Brady Bunch brothers, Barry Williams, Christopher Knight, and Mike Lookinland (the Mummies from TV Theme Songs Night), Jeff Dunham (Pi-Rat from Vegas Night), Joey Lawrence (Walrus from '90s Night), George Foreman and George Clinton (Venus Fly Trap and Gopher, respectively, from Hall of Fame Night), and Linda Blair and Ray Parker Jr. (Scarecrow and Sir Bugaboo from Fright Night). The Masked Singer theme nights narrow down the possibilities for each mask, making guessing easier, and therefore more fun.

The Masked Singer theme nights also feature theme-matching guest panelists and celebrities who present clues. Every episode is a celebration of the theme, which is very exciting for viewers. Host Nick Cannon and panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, and Nicole Scherzinger join in the fun as well, singing songs and dressing in costumes that fit the themes. With these exciting new theme nights, The Masked Singer season 9 already seems like it could be one of the best yet.
