The official Young Sheldon season 6 fall finale synopsis reveals the return of the show's true villain. After an eventful season 5 ending, things are starting to settle for the Coopers. Each member of the family is doing well despite some difficulties in recent weeks. Mary and George's marriage particularly looks good after the couple appears to rekindle their attraction to each other. Georgie and Mandy's relationship is also on the mend as they finally get on the same page in terms of their approach to their upcoming baby. Meanwhile, both Sheldon and Missy are doing fine with their respective arcs. But a shake-up is imminent on Young Sheldon as its true villain finally returns.

Young Sheldon is currently on a break in light of the Thanksgiving holiday. When it returns with a new episode, however, the outing will also see the church, which is the show's true antagonist, play a part in the Coopers' life once again. According to Futon Critic, Young Sheldon season 6 episode 8, titled "Legalese and a Whole Hoo-Ha," will see the congregation target Meemaw's video store. Read the full synopsis below:

Sheldon's database invention puts him at odds with the university. Also, the church takes issue with Meemaw's video store, on YOUNG SHELDON, Thursday, Dec. 8 (8:00-8:31 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+*.

What Young Sheldon’s Church Return Means For Season 6

After getting ruthlessly fired by Pastor Jeff after Georgie's pregnancy news came out, Mary decided to separate herself from the congregation. While the Cooper matriarch is currently going through a crisis of faith, it also has its clear upsides, something both Meemaw and George pointed out. Since spending time away from the church, Mary has become more relaxed and fun to be around. This leads to her being more understanding of her kids and affectionate towards her husband. In fact, it could very well be the reason why it has been easier for her and George to rekindle their romance and get along better. Given all these benefits, it does seem like Young Sheldon's true villain is the church.

Unfortunately, The Big Bang Theory already confirmed Mary will eventually return to church; she will once again be extremely judgmental and rude, all in the name of her faith. The question now is when and how. Based on the Young Sheldon season 6 fall finale synopsis, it doesn't seem like the congregation's meddling in Meemaw's video store will have a direct impact on Mary, although she might find herself involved in the commotion at some point. Perhaps, it could also be how she discovers her mom and Georgie's illegal gambling den behind their video store and laundromat.

As the church creeps back into the lives of the Coopers, expect that they will have an impact on Mary and how she views things. But considering George's impending death, preceded by his cheating scandal, Young Sheldon may want to prolong this peaceful period in their lives before tragedies struck them and Mary returns to her old ways. This way, CBS can further take advantage of the show's familial aspects which is its best asset anyway.
