Cougar captured after prompting school lockdowns in Utah

Officials in Utah announced the capture of a cougar on February 16 after the animal prompted two schools to go into lockdown. The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources shared a video of the cougar that was spotted in Utah County. “We tranquilized him and then released him yesterday afternoon in a remote part of Utah County,” the post said, “It took a few minutes for the groggy cat to get his bearings, but he’s in good shape and should adapt quickly to his new home.” A media report said two elementary schools in Riverton were placed under lockdown as a safety precaution.
