Emergency Responders Conduct Rescues as Floodwaters Rise in Iowa

Iowa’s Department of Natural Resources conducted a water rescue in Pacific Junction after floodwaters partially submerged homes on Monday, March 18. Video posted by a public information officer with the Iowa State Police shows emergency responders evacuating a man by boat. Flooded homes can be seen in the background. The Missouri River overflowed due to heavy rain and snowmelt, causing flooding in Nebraska, Iowa, and Kansas. Three deaths were reported and hundreds of homes destroyed.
