First Snow of the Year Falls in South Shields

The first snow of the year fell on South Shields in North East England on January 17. Further north, in Scotland, snow and ice were causing difficult driving conditions, according to the BBC. The Met Office had issued a “yellow warning” for snow and ice in South Shields and the surrounding areas, warning that travelers may experience longer journey times on roads and railways.
