Hungry Potaroos Get Their First Taste of Yummy Peanut Butter

These three plump Aussie critters couldn’t get enough of first ever serving of peanut butter at the Werribee Open Range Zoo in Victoria. In this video the little “potaroos” gobble down peanut butter smeared on corn husks, getting the sticky treat all over their snouts and paws. Potaroos are kangaroo-like marsupials about the size of a rabbit. “The potaroos hadn’t had peanut butter before so it was great to see them work out how to open the corn husks and explore this new enrichment,” keeper Courtney Pridgeon said in a statement. “They really seemed to enjoy it.” Part of the rat-kangaroo family, potaroos use their long noses to forage for food in undergrowth. They also play a vital role in their ecosystem by spreading fungi and plants through the Australian bush with their droppings, the zoo said. Credit: Werribee Open Range Zoo via Storyful
