Nutcracker balloon knocks marcher down at Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
A nutcracker balloon knocked a marcher down at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City on November 28 as marchers struggled to control the inflatables due to strong winds. In a video, the nutcracker balloon can be seen tipped on its side as handlers attempt to pull it upright while the crowd scream. While the balloon edges toward the crowd, a parade participant runs to help, before colliding with it. The crowd are heard reacting as she falls to the ground. There were fears that strong winds could have grounded the balloons, for only the second time since they became a fixture at the parade, but organizers decided to allow them to fly lower than their usual height. The New York Police Department declared them “clear for take off” on Thursday morning. Credit: Adam Parker via Storyful
