Army Called in as Deadly Flooding Hits Quebec

Flooding hit Quebec, Canada, on Saturday, April 20, killing one person and prompting emergency warnings and an army response to provide assistance, local media reported. CBC reported an elderly woman died in western Quebec on Saturday morning when she drove into a hole that formed when floodwaters washed out a road. The flooding was a result of heavy rainfall, melting snow and river ice, Quebec local media reported. There were still concerns about serious flooding, despite rainfall easing on Saturday, due to snowmelt adding to already swollen rivers, CBC reported.
