US Customs System Outage Delays Travelers at Dulles Airport

Passengers arriving from overseas encountered long lines in the customs and immigration hall at Washington Dulles International Airport on August 16, after US Customs and Border Protection experienced a computer-system outage, local media reported. “CBP is experiencing a temporary outage with its processing systems at various air ports of entry [and] is taking immediate action to address the technology disruption. CBP officers continue to process international travelers using alternative procedures until systems are back online,” a Customs and Border Protection said in a tweet. A report from WJLA said the outage had impacted John F. Kennedy Airport in New York, Los Angeles International Airport, Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, O’Hare and Midway airports in Chicago, San Francisco International Airport, and Philadelphia International Airport.
