When you’re the galaxy’s best bounty hunter, you need a spaceship that fits your outsize reputation. That’s why Boba Fett doesn’t tool around in just any Honda Civic of the skies—his primary ship, the Slave I, is iconic in the Star Wars universe, known for speed, stealth, and weaponry. And it’s a big deal that The Mandalorian has traded its previous ship, the antique, pre-Empire Razor Crest, for Boba Fett’s Slave I.

To quickly recap: In last week’s episode we saw the return of Boba Fett, who has been chasing Baby Yoda (whose real name, we now know, Grogu) and Din Djarin, the titular Mandalorian, hoping to retrieve his beskar armor. All three soon found themselves under attack by Imperial forces, though, and in the melee, the Razor Crest was destroyed. Not just badly damaged—blown to pieces. Rest in peace, Razor Crest.

Perhaps more importantly, Grogu was kidnapped, prompting Boba Fett to declare himself in the Mandalorian’s service until the Child is recovered. It’s likely, then, that they’ll spend the final two episodes of this season aboard Slave I.

As YouTuber EckhartsLadder explains in this video, the Razor Crest was a fine ship, if a bit frumpy and long in the tooth. The Slave I, however, is legendary, having featured prominently across Star Wars media. The Razor Crest’s main advantage was that being obsolete meant it was often undetectable. The Slave I, by contrast, is likely to draw much more attention to our heroes. But it’s previously demonstrated an apparently sophisticated stealth system, and it’s likely to have advanced tracking and communication technology, which will come in handy in finding Gogru.

In other words, the move from Razor Crest to Slave I is a big upgrade. We’ll see how it plays out in the rest of this season of The Mandalorian.
