The Coast Guard has suspended the search for a man missing in Lake Erie off of Cleveland Harbor, pending further information or a request for assistance from other agencies.

The Coast Guard and other agencies had been searching throughout Sunday night and into Monday before calling off the search around 6 p.m. on Monday.

The search began when watchstanders in the Coast Guard Sector Buffalo command center received a call from Metro Parks Police relaying a message they received about the overdue boater around 7 p.m. on Sunday. During the search, a Metro Parks Police marine unit found a boat idling about one mile off of the entrance to Cleveland Harbor. No one was on board the boat, where a lifejacket and cellphone were found.
