Drone Deployed To Examine Suspicious Device Near Stevens Creek Trail
MOUNTAIN VIEW (CBS SF) — A bomb squad has confirmed that a suspicious device found Saturday morning on the Stevens Creek Trail in Mountain View is not a threat, police said.
Police did not release a description of the device or why it prompted the trail’s closure for about three hours.
Police closed the pathway at East Middlefield Road to pedestrians and cyclist after the device was spotted, they said in a social media post about 10:20 a.m.
Police used a drone to examine the object and the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad was brought in as a precaution, police said.
The trail reopened to pedestrians and cyclists, police said about 1:30 p.m.
East Middlefield traffic was temporarily diverted during the incident but has since reopened.
To continue to ensure the safety for all, we have eastbound and westbound vehicle traffic on Middlefield diverted between Moffett Boulevard and Easy Street.
Thank you for your understanding as we work to clear the area so all can go back to enjoying the trail safely. pic.twitter.com/ZH3JLizJVB
