First Alert Weather: Windy, chilly day ahead for North Texas

CBS Dallas 3/17/2023 Dominic Brown

NORTH TEXAS ( — The cold front that brought severe weather to North Texas Thursday has pushed south, allowing for much colder weather to move in with gusty winds.

During the morning hours, those winds produced wind chills in the upper 20s and lower 30s.

This afternoon, our winds will slowly subside. Still, it will remain chilly at times. Highs will be in the low-to-mid 50s and feels-like temperatures will be in the upper 40s.

For the weekend, we'll have dry weather, but it will still be a bit cool.

On Saturday, we'll start the day with temperatures in the upper 30s and highs in the mid-to-upper 50s. We'll see a good deal of clouds for much of the day, but some sunshine will peek through.

Sunday morning will be cold!

Temperatures will be in the mid 30s, but several areas north of Highway 380 and a few north of Interstate 20 will have temperatures in the upper 20s and lower 30s. So, bundle up!

We'll need to take care of our pets, plants and elderly neighbors during this weather. By afternoon, highs will be in the lower 50s under a mix of sun and clouds.

Monday is the first day of spring, but it won't feel like it. Morning temperatures will be in the 30s with highs in the mid 50s.

Our next best chance of showers and storms will arrive next Thursday with a cold front. We'll be watching the potential for strong storms to develop.

Some of our forecast models are hinting at storms moving through parts of North Texas by Thursday evening and night or into early Friday morning.

We have several days to fine tune that forecast, but a weather alert could be posted for the end of next week.
