Hail 'The Size of Golf Balls' Break Through Roof in Leicestershire

Hail pelted down over Kibworth, Leicestershire, as “five weeks’ worth of rain fell in just one hour” on July 20, according to local reports. In what is being called a “freak weather incident”, the Met Office reported “torrential” rainfall of 45mm within a 30 minute period, accompanied by thunderstorms. Ian Williams shared the footage of the clumps of hail smashing into his conservatory, telling Storyful that around 12 holes were made in his roof. The downpour came after a five-day heat wave, where temperatures of up to 30 degrees Celsius (86 Fahrenheit) were being enjoyed in the lead-up to the sudden change in weather.
