Insect Lover Opens Golden Orb Egg Sac Full of Baby Spiders
Queensland citizen-entomologist Lisa Van Kula Donovan captured the frightfully beautiful moment she gently pulled open a Golden Orb Weaver’s egg sac, releasing dozens of baby spiders into the world. In the October 20 Instagram video, Van Kula Donovan tears the sac’s tangled webbing as spiderlings scurry out into the Australian Spring sunshine. “I decided to open this Golden orb sac I had because I’ve had it in an enclosure and since getting our air conditioning, the temp inside could be a bit confusing for the babies,” she wrote on Instagram. “It’s Springtime here in Australia, and with no more cold nights here in Queensland, I thought it would be a good time to release them.” Credit: Lisa Van Kula Donovan via Storyful
