Kirker Fire Erupts Near Concord, Pittsburg

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — Firefighters have responded to a rapidly spreading two-alarm grass fire Friday afternoon near Concord and Pittsburg, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District said.

The Kirker Fire broke out around 12:15 p.m. and was burning in the vicinity of Kirker Pass and Hess roads in Clayton.

Kirker Pass Road was closed in both directions because of the fire, the Concord Police Department said just after 1 p.m.
