Lightning Illuminates 'Mothership' Supercell in East New Mexico
A storm chaser captured a supercell moving through east New Mexico as dangerous storms impacted the region on Thursday, May 25. Video recorded by Chad Casey shows the lightning illuminate the ominous cloud structure. Casey told Storyful the “insane mothership supercell” was spotted south of San Jon. The National Weather Service (NWS) warned the lightning was associated with “strong and dangerous” storms in the region and urged residents to seek shelter as baseball-sized hail was “likely”.
