New wildfire start near Three Rivers Campground

A new wildfire was detected above the Three Rivers Campground on the morning of April 26.

The fire was 30 acres as of a NMFireInfo.com update at about 10:30 a.m. April 26.

The fire is located above Three Rivers Campground between Tularosa and Carrizozo on the Lincoln National Forest Smokey Bear Ranger District, the update states.

The fire is named the Three Rivers Fire and is actively burning, the update states. The Three Rivers Fire's smoke is visible from Highway 54.

"Fire personnel will use a combination of tactics from the air and ground to fully suppress the fire," the update states.

"The weather today is expected to be windy, with 20+ mph gusts from the southwest. Temperatures will be in the low 80s, with humidity levels in the single digits."
