Petersburg sets schedule for hauling away tree and limb debris caused by winter storms
PETERSBURG — Got toppled trees or lopped-off limbs as a result of the recent spate of wintry weather? Next month, the city will haul them away for you.
On Monday, Petersburg officials released a schedule of storm-related debris collection that will begin March 1 and last for the entire month. The schedule is set by ward and will be a one-time takeaway. The debris is limited to trees and brush only — no construction or household items will be taken..
Petersburg General Services crews will hit the streets according to the following:
- March 1-5: Pickup in wards 1 and 5;
- March 8-12: Pickup in wards 6 and 7; and
- March 15-26: Pickup in wards,2, 3 and 4.
"Your debris must be placed between the sidewalks and the curb or shoulder of the road," an announcement of the schedule read. "Do not place debris on sidewalks, into streets, ditches or on drains."
Debris must be piled up and ready for hauling by 8 a.m. on the days within the wards' timeframes.
Smaller limbs and branches can be disposed of through residents' regular trash collection.
For more information about the tree and limb clean-up, call the Petersburg Streets Operations office at (804) 733-2415.
