Potential severe weather in Monroe area prompts school closures

The National Weather Service is predicting a strong chance of severe weather, including a threat of thunderstorms and tornadoes, for northeast Louisiana through tonight.

Monroe City Hall and City facilities were closed to the public and non-essential employees at 1 p.m.

Many school districts closed campuses before the storms reach the area.

Ouachita, East Carroll, Franklin and Tensas schools are dismissed at 12:30 p.m.

Monroe City, Caldwell and Madison schools are dismissed at 1 p.m.

West Carroll dismissed at 2 p.m.

All Louisiana Delta Community College campuses closed at noon.
