Sydney Firefighters Work to Contain Severe Inferno

Firefighters in Sydney classed an inferno engulfing two vacant buildings in the city on May 25 as “the most severe type of fire”. Storyful journalist Kellie Highet was in the neighborhood when the fire broke out. The videos she recorded show smoke and flames rising into the sky. Part of one building was seen collapsing in video released by Fire and Rescue NSW, and at least one vehicle in the vicinity was destroyed. More than 100 firefighters were working to contain and extinguish the blaze across what they said were two vacant buildings on Randle Street. Crews were also working to douse “smaller fires which threatened to spread to surrounding buildings, including residential apartments,” the fire service said. Credit: Kellie Highet via Storyful
